TIBCO, a leading independent business integration and process management software company, continues to demonstrate its leadership role in defining and shaping interoperability standards for enterprise integration solutions by implementing JSR 208, the Java Business Integration (JBI) standard, as a common plug-and-play framework for service infrastructure.

Enterprises today, driven by the business challenge to become more responsive, are facing two key challenges. The first is the inability to change systems rapidly enough to respond to business needs. Even applications developed on component-based application servers can be tightly coupled and unable to easily support business process changes. The widely recognized solution is to adopt a service-oriented architecture (SOA). The second challenge is a lack of support for real-time responsiveness and process automation. Business responsiveness is hindered by lack of an event driven architecture (EDA).

TIBCO, which has delivered the value of the real-time business to over 2,000 customers worldwide, is providing enterprises a single standards-based architecture that unifies SOA and EDA, and combines the productivity gained from process modeling and service orchestration with lower costs of integration through standards leadership. TIBCO has been a leader in driving SOA and EDA standards and providing early support in its products including XML for data representation, XML Schema for data validation, XSLT for data transformation, XPath for data addressability, WSDL for service description, and SOAP over HTTP and JMS as part of a multi-protocol Web services bus.

TIBCO is leveraging the JSR 208 (JBI) specification to ensure its customers have greater choice and flexibility for deploying service infrastructure. Today, TIBCO's portfolio of enterprise backbone, business integration, business process management, and business optimization products is built on a pluggable framework that allows these products to be deployed individually or together based on the needs of the customer. By supporting JBI, TIBCO is extending its framework to support standards-based plug-and-play service infrastructure, which gives customers greater choice and lowers overall costs. Customers will no longer have to rely on proprietary, immature enterprise service buses (ESB), J2EE or .NET-based component infrastructures that do not have all the functionality required to support enterprise-wide services.
